Goel Ratzon is accused of keeping a cult of concubines in Tel Aviv, inspiring total obedience and loyalty. The 60-year-old, who resembles Indian cult leaders with long white hair and beard, has appeared before the media for the first time since his arrest, protesting his innocence. His harem allegedly included at least 17 women with whom he fathered at least 37 children, some of whom are also his grandchildren.

Police believe he committed incest with his own daughters. An Israeli television documentary crew exposed Ratzon and his women in their squalid apartments last year.

The women appeared to be utterly in Ratzon’s thrall. They bore tattoos showing his face in messianic images and referred to him as their saviour. “Goel” means “redeemer” in Hebrew.

The lineage of the Hebrew Patriarchs who founded the Jewish people was highly inbred.  Abraham said his wife Sarah was also his half-sister. His son Isaac married Rebekah, a cousin once removed. And Isaac’s son Jacob wed his two first cousins, Leah and Rachel.a tendency toward inbreeding can turn an extended family into a miniature racial group with its own partially isolated gene pool. (Dog breeders use extreme forms of inbreeding to quickly create new breeds in a handful of generations.)

The ancient Hebrews provide a vivid example of a partly inbred extended family (that of Abraham and his brothers) that evolved into its own ethnic group. This process has been going on for thousands of years in the Middle East, which is why not just the Jews, but also why tiny, ancient inbreeding groups such as the Samaritans, the John the Baptist-worshipping Sabeans, and the Lucifer-worshipping Yezidis still survive.

Jacob’s dozen sons were the famous progenitors of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Due to inbreeding, Jacob’s eight legitimate sons had only six unique great-grandparents instead of the usual eight. That’s because the inbred are related to their relatives through multiple paths.

In one scene, Ratzon tells the camera: “I’m perfect, I have all the qualities a woman wants.”  Police say the women lavished Ratzon with attention as if he was royalty and texted him to tell him when they were ovulating.

They say Ratzon wrote a list of commandments ensuring the women were kept in near total slavery. They were forbidden from talking to other men and were not allowed to question any of his commands.

He is accused of using physical punishment on the women and controlling them by making them believe in his divine status. His lawyer says the women willingly accepted the conditions and way of life and the sex was consensual. He denies the charges against him.

According to the State Prosecutor’s Office, Ratzon had many diverse ways to influence his wives, causing them to depend on him completely. He allegedly instilled a distorted reality, leading them to believe that their entire being, essence and physical and mental life derive their existence from him.

The indictment describes the “family” setting Ratzon built around him: “The defendant captured the women in a human group structure with the nature of a pseudo-family revolving around the ritual of his image, turning the birth of his children into a supreme goal the wives must aspire to, all with the aim of glorifying him while serving him and providing all his needs.”

The State went on to say that Ratzon abused his wives by scorning them, while ridiculing their personality and independence and trampling over their self-image and self-value.

He kept them away from any external social connection, including their families, damaging their judgment and free will and enslaving them to provide his economic and sexual needs, the indictment said.

‘Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it’

Many of the indictment clauses refer to the sex offenses allegedly committed by Ratzon. One describes a 19-year-old girl who was raped by Ratzon from the age of 15 to 17 on a nearly daily basis. He is also accused of indecent assault of another girl, by caressing her sexual organs and kissing her while pushing his tongue into her mouth.

He is also accused of raping and sexually harassing a girl whose mother died when she was a baby. According to the indictment, he distanced the girl from her family and promised to marry her. He convinced her that he had supernatural powers and ignored her request to stop kissing and caressing her.

Several days later, he took a shower with the girl and raped her. When she complained that it hurt, he responded, “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it.” In another incident, he performed oral sex on the girl and raped her again.

“The defendant knew that the young girl was subject to his magical influence, which he nurtured and implanted in a way preventing her from granting her free agreement,” the indictment stated. “Shortly after these acts were committed, the young woman’s father managed to locate her and remove her forcibly.”

While the Hindu seer dated more with RSS boys, his behavior may just tip the scales to classify him as a sex addict. RSS don’t promote marriage and sexual intercourse as a concept to build a family. Instead they believe in Sangh Parivar, the brotherhood of Hindu extremism and the front end leaders are compelled to live as bachelors in public life.

In December 2006, BJP general secretary and RSS insider Sanjay Joshi quit his party post after an audio cassette, and later a VCD, showing him in a compromising position with a woman. RSS always claims of Brahmacharya (vow of celibacy) about their leaders and members. Joshi, like all other members of RSS, is supposed to be celibate and the CD has exposed these claims.

Babubhai Katara was arrested at Delhi airport for trying to fly with a woman and teenager to Toronto on the diplomatic passports of his family. He was arrested with one Paramjeet Kaur and a 15-year-old boy, Amarjeet Singh, who were posing as his wife and son.

According to specialists, sex addiction can involve a wide variety of practices. A large number of sex addicts say their unacceptable sexual practices have been the result of a gradual process.

It may have started with an unhealthy relationship, but over the years deteriorated to include compulsive behaviour which is frequently damaging.

Psychologist Sujendra Prakash says he’s come across several cases of happily married men who are addicted to sex. “They are rarely caught,”he says. “This may be because they are not celebrities, but social restrictions in our society mean that much is kept under wraps.”

According to him, “Those who display such behaviour are highly insecure people, mostly uncertain of their potency. They are are not good in bed. They indulge in promiscuous sexual activity to keep proving themselves. Their life is a lie and they lie to everybody. It is just like any other personality disorder and cannot be easily overcome.”

Experts also feel that sex addicts gain very little pleasure from actual physical contact. Yet they engage in sexual activities they don’t enjoy because they are trying to alter their own mood, and to anaesthetise painful feelings of low self-esteem or loneliness. “In our society, sex addicts are forced to wear a mask; they may appear harmless, but a lot is going on in their minds,”explains counsellor Ian Faria.

On whether this is a only male pre-occupation, Sujendra Prakash says, “Nymphomania exists more in literature than in the real world. While men are addicted to sex, women are addicted to love. But there are women who are aware that sex is a weak point for men and may use this to their advantage.”

As for solutions, psychologist Karun Mathews says, “Intense counsellings and sessions with psychologists or psychiatrists is recommended.

In the west, Sex Addicts Anonymous, based on the template of Alcoholics Anonymous, has been doing some amazing work.”But unlike alcohol or drug addiction, where the ‘just say no’ mantra is clear-cut, recovering from sexual addiction is not so straightforward.

Prior to the meeting in Sydney’s CBD, the pair exchanged a string of emails in which Rajendran falsely claimed he worked for the lingerie firm La Perla.  After arranging to meet the woman in person and having drinks at a city bar, Mr Rajendran took her to a nearby office block where he allegedly showed her pictures of La Perla lingerie. He then allegedly kissed her and proceeded to have sex with her. According to prosecutors, Rajendran told the aspiring model “I’ll make you into a really good model if you don’t tell anyone.” The woman left the building and went to a nearby hotel to contact police.

In addition to the rape charge, Rajendran faces an actual bodily harm claim. It is alleged that abrasions were found on the victim’s back during a physical examination conducted at a hospital soon after the attack.A Downing Centre District Court jury of seven women and five men took a little over a day to decide on a guilty verdict.

Rajendran was impassive as the decision was read to the court on Friday, but later started weeping. His barrister applied for bail, but it was refused by Judge Deborah Payne.

A jealous admirer, furious at being spurned by a hijra, as eunuchs are know in Pakistan, threw acid in his face. That man, Shabir, was once his best friend.“I loved him like a brother. But one day he told me he was in love with me. He wanted me for himself alone,” he said.

“Nobody respects you. For them, we’re just here for sex. Men harass us more than they do girls,” he tells AFP in his reedy, androgynous voice.

Zafar, 22, says the only thing that relieves the anguish of his past is to dance. Dressed in a light brown tunic he pirouettes and sways to Indian music in a dormitory at the Acid Survivors’ Foundation in the capital Islamabad.

His long, straight, fine hair and a pair of sunglasses conceal his blind eyes and his skin is pulled tight across his disfigured face.

A photo of a 15-year-old Zafar is testimony to his former good looks, showing the image of a beautiful woman wearing make-up and an embroidered dress with a deep blue veil.

In Zafar’s arms is a small boy, the son of a local policeman. He had been invited to dance at his birthday.

Hijras were historically castrated at birth and granted a favoured status in the court of the Indian subcontinent’s Mughal empire, but now Pakistan’s eunuch community includes hermaphrodites, transsexuals, transvestites and homosexuals.

Eunuchs were traditionally paid to help celebrate the birth of a son, or to dance at weddings.

Because of their perceived misfortune at having being born between two genders, the traditional belief in Pakistan is that God will be more inclined to listen to their prayers.

But this leaves the eunuchs with little other choice but to beg on the streets for pennies, and many end up as prostitutes.

In Muslim Pakistan, where sexual relations outside marriage are taboo and homosexuality is illegal, eunuchs are also treated as sex objects and often become the victims of violent assault.

“Every eunuch does prostitution”, said Reshma, 22, who sells sex for 200 rupees (2.50 dollars) a time.

“This is hard, but I earn more doing this than if I had a normal job,” he added, looking for clients on Rawalpindi’s Benazir Bhutto Avenue in a bright orange tunic at one in the morning.

A prostitute since the age of eight, he says he is raped every day but as the only person in his family with an income he has no choice.

Now, in a move toward granting the country’s estimated 500,000 eunuchs rights, Pakistan’s top judge has ordered the government to recognise them as a distinct gender — although how it will be implemented remains to be seen.

In neighbouring India, eunuchs and transsexuals won a long-standing campaign last year to be listed as “others” — distinct from males and females — on electoral rolls and voter identity cards.

“It’s good for eunuchs because no one respects them,” said Almas Bobby, a spokesman for Pakistan’s eunuch community.

“Lots of bad guys go to eunuchs and rape them for satisfaction, for fun, they burn them with cigarettes,” he told AFP.

The 45-year-old Bobby, celebrated in the city of Rawalpindi for the feminine grace of his dancing, has helped mobilise his fellow eunuchs in recent years to campaign for their rights.

Demonstrations against rape and extortion by the police have drawn a lot of attention in the Pakistani press.

Lawyer Mohammad Aslam Khaki filed the petition for eunuchs’ rights at the Supreme Court, which last month ordered a third gender column on national identity cards.

The judge also demanded more help for eunuchs in getting their share under inheritance laws as well as better protection from police harassment.

Rejected by their mortified families when they hit their teens, eunuchs end up living together in communities led by a guru who acts as guide and counsellor — but most often as a pimp.

“In our society, the access to girls is very limited outside marriage, there is no privacy. This feeds prostitution,” Khaki said. “All of them are more or less linked to the prostitution business.”

But despite all the campaigning, there is little hope among the hijras that life will soon change. Like many eunuchs, Reshma had not heard even about the recent order from the top judge, which has yet to be implemented.

“The situation will stay the same. I don’t think bureaucracy will improve things with us,” he said.

The mother described one of them as being tall and dark, while the other was short and older. While the former struck up a conversation with the mother, his friend started to play with the girl in the shallow waters. Soon, they stepped out of the water and the older man began to talk to the mother. His friend, meanwhile, took the girl some distance away, saying he wanted to play with her. He took her to a clump of rocks nearby and allegedly raped her.

It was not long before the mother realized that her attention had been deliberately diverted, when she heard screams and cries from her daughter.

The woman frantically rushed to the spot and carried back her terrified daughter. She said she was not in a position to confront the two men, who by then were making their way out of the place.

The woman took her daughter to the police outpost at Arambol, from where they were taken to the Pernem police station.

The mother, in her complaint, said that the older man who befriended her, had introduced himself as Aman, saying he worked for a company called Intex. The nine-year-old told police that the man who tried to rape her had placed a knife to her neck before forcibly trying to have sex.

According to a sketch prepared from their description, the man had a scar above his upper lip.

Vikram Verma, legal counsel for the Russian consulate in India, however, contended that the act amounted to rape.

“There was penetration. The girl has suffered internal injuries. It amounts to rape,” he said. Verma said he had intimated the Russian Consulate about the incident, and a formal statement would be issued shortly.

The Goa Police registered the case under Sections 376 (rape) read with 34 (common intention) and 511 (attempt to commit rape) of Indian Penal Code and section 8 (2) of Goa Children’s Act on Tuesday night. The girl was referred for medical examination that confirmed penetration.

Al Rashidi, an Emirati, had originally pleaded not guilty before the Dubai Court of First Instance to the premeditated murder and rape of Moosa Mukhtiar Ahmed, but later switched his plea to guilty.
As soon as the sentence was handed down Mukhtiar Ahmed Khudabaksh, the father of the boy, went straight to the mosque where his son had died to offer prayers.

Mr Ahmed had been in court with Moosa’s uncle and seven-year-old brother Mustafa. They wept and hugged each other as the sentence was passed.

“This man deserved this sentence,” Mr Khudabaksh said. “I want to thank the people who stood by me and the court for this decision.”

In their judgment the panel of three judges, presided over by Judge Fahmy Mounir Fahmy, said there was no evidence of premeditation in the killing.

“For premeditation to be established a prior opportunity has to be present where the defendant would have to think, plan and consider his options,” they said.

“In this case the court sees no evidence supporting that and the defendant is convicted of intentionally killing the victim without any premeditation.”

Last night the stepmother accused during the trial of having abused Rashidi as a child denied the allegation, telling The National she had always treated him as one of her own.

The family also said they had lived in fear of him, and could not understand why he had twice been released early from prison after receiving sentences for two earlier sex attacks.

During the trial, the court was told that on the eve of the murder on November 27, al Rashidi had been drinking alcohol in Umm al Qaiwain. He continued drinking in a cemetery near his home in Al Qusais.

The next morning, said prosecutors, he attended prayers at Bin Tahnoon mosque and afterwards loitered in the area. At about 10am, Moosa, his brother and a friend approached al Rashidi for an Eid gift and he told the four-year-old to follow him to the mosque to collect it.

It was in the grounds of the mosque, the court was told, that al Rashidi forced the boy into a toilet, where he first raped and then killed him, by smashing his head against the floor.

Moosa’s body was found about two hours later, when a worshipper entered the toilets to prepare for the Dhuhr prayer.

Police swiftly rounded up all the registered sex offenders in the neighbourhood and within four hours had got a confession from al Rashidi.

During the trial, al Rashidi’s lawyer said his client was a product of abuse during his own childhood, had left school at seven and by 14 had drifted into drug and alcohol abuse.

Mohammed al Sa’adi suggested al Rashidi might be suffering from acute paranoia or a persecution complex. However, a psychiatric evaluation ordered by the court found he was aware of his actions.

The case will now be fast-tracked to the Dubai Court of Appeals, where it is expected to be heard either next week or the week after.

If the sentence is upheld it will then be referred to the Dubai Court of Cassation, which will verify that correct legal procedures have been followed.

Sex workers in Kolkata, Only the mud from the residence of a sex worker can make sure that the soul of the goddess is pure

Newcomers to the red light district  of Kolkata will be given a spot demonstration at the unit with the help of a dildo on how to use a condom.
Chumki is one of the 4000 sex workers who will be celebrating the Durga Puja in Sonagachhi this year. “Only we can make sure that the soul of the goddess is pure,” she states, referring to the tradition where idol makers and puja organisers come to Sonagachhi to collect mud from their residence. The mud is considered to be pure and to drive away evil from society. “Our tradition says that a man who enters our rooms becomes pure as he leaves all of his vices behind,” she says.

While some sex workers think that Durga Puja is a celebration of motherhood as they “mother many fathers” throughout the year, others are of the view of blending of puja and pleasure during five days. Special guests of sex workers, usually Babus, have also been invited for dinner. Babus are those who become psychologically involved with a particular sex-worker or share a ‘husband-wife’ relationship.The festive frenzy culminates to a situation that requires extra police on the streets. The red light area falls under the Burtolla police station area.

“We make elaborate police arrangements for the Sonagachhi puja fearing a stampede,” reveals senior inspector of police and former OC of Burtolla police station, B Saha.

Customer Care Unit volunteers will guide clients who want to avail of the services offered between 7 pm and 4 am during the pujas.

Using a condom is mandatory

Condoms like xtratime, xtrapleasure andordinary ones will also be made available at the units,” said Mahesweta Mukherjee, the liaison officer of Durbar Mahila Samanyay Samity.

The Samity, which works for protecting both the sex-workers and customers, has decided to guide those who have little knowledge of contraceptives.

“Newcomers will be given a spot demonstration at the unit with the help of a dildo on how to use a condom. And it’s mandatory,” says Mukherjee, adding they take care of customers facing any problems by hoodlums at the red-light area as the clients are Lakshmi.

Mukherjee, however, makes it clear that the puja committee has nothing to do with the business of sex workers during the pujas. Sonagachhi women perform rigorous rituals going by the book.

Determined to rise above social prohibition and get the power of the Goddess Durga, nearly 4,000 sex-workers of Sonagachhi, one of the largest red-light districts of Asia organise Durga Puja.

Sonagachhi Durga Puja becomes a centre of attraction as sex workers of different age groups from various places pour in at the pandal, said Bhola, a local youth. Children of the sex workers who are usually away from their homes stay with their mothers at Sonagachhi during the pujas.

Retired sex workers have been invited for lunch for five days. Aged sex workers facing acute financial crisis will be given new clothes and money, said Gulti, a local youth also associated with the puja.

Aged sex-workers and young children of sex-workers will be taken pandal hopping. Beggars begging in and around Sonagachhi throughout the year have also been invited for lunch during the pujas.

Bishnumohan Panda, a 58-year-old resident of Rajgurupur village, was arrested after his daughter complained to the police Saturday with the help of villagers, said Damodar Mohapatra, in charge of the police station in the village. The 32-year-old victim, who is now married and has two children, alleged that her father first sexually exploited her when she was studying in Class 9 and continued to do so for years, threatening her with dire consequences if she complained to anyone.

“Though my father later married me off to a poor man, he wanted my husband and me to stay at his home so that he could exploit me further,” the victims said in her complaint. “She also alleged that she was forced to undergo many abortions by her father in the past,” Mohapatra told IANS.

NEW DELHI(Xinhua) — A nine-year-old Indian boy has become the country’s youngest person to be charged with rape after he was booked by police for the alleged rape of a six-year-old girl by violent assault, reported the Times of India electronic edition Wednesday.

However, the accused, whose name was not revealed for security reasons, was granted bail by a juvenile court in Himachal Pradesh, northern India, after spending a night in a police lockup this week, said the report. The children have known each other in school in Indora, Himachal Pradesh, and used to play together. On Sunday, they were playing at the girl’s residence while their parents were out for work, when the boy assaulted her. A medical examination of the victim and the accused confirmed rape, according to the report.
